What is the difference between bits and bytes?

Though both bits and bytes are unit to measure memory in computers as we use meters a unit for length but there is just a little difference.As we know computers stores the memory in the form of 0 or 1 ,one Bit is equal to either single 0 or single1.But on the contrary one Byte stores 8 Bits either combination of 8 zeros and ones.Every character we type on a computer has memory of 1 Byte .The only variation is in the combination of zeros and ones .So Byte is a bigger unit of memory than Bit.
