Curie law of magnetism
According to the curies law of magnetism, the intensity of magnetisation (M) of a magnetic material is
- directly proportional to the magnetic induction (B),
- inversely proportional to the temperature (T) of the material.
that is
M α B/T —(1)
as B α H (magnetic intensity)
Thus equation 1 becomes
M α H/T
or M/H α 1/T
or χ α 1/T (because magnetic susceptibility x = M/H)
χ = C/T
where C is a constant of proportionality and is called Curie constant
Thus, according to the Curie’s law, magnetic susceptibility is inversely proportional to the temperature of the material.
